sweet! the 4 bolt setup is definitely an upgrade.

that plastic spacer has been around forever (and not cheap) - but works. I agree with a straight bar to benefit packing space.

One small thing that I do with mine is to mount it with the backside of the wheel facing out...gives a bit more recess to the t-bar and also a full contact on the cone spacer to the center of the wheel hub for a more snug fit. I could definitely see making some storage out of this space!

@SNLC pretty crafty, but what else should we expect from you... Looks like you are running your own style mount, so I'm not sure how this would go with the BellFab, but definitely gets some thoughts to mind!

Seems like I'm the only one grossed out by the smell of rubber!

Oh well, I know I find smells obnoxious that other people don't even notice. :meh:

I'm sensitive to it (but it doesn't really bother me) and my wife hates it...every time she goes into our local warehouse club and has to pass by the tire section at the entrance, she comments on the stink. That said, when I had my used BFG A/T inside, neither of us could smell it. I ended up giving my son my BFG's to put on his truck, and he swapped his new 315 spare onto my rim (even though I told him I'd take his used tire). I thought it would be an issue since it's more of an off-brand tire, but no stink at all. Granted, he's owned it for a couple of years, so technically not brand new in age, but never on the ground or stored outside to get some outdoor exposure/weathering.

Fact is that some just stink more than others...maybe getting a used tire for a spare would be a safer option, but still no guarantee on odor.

New tires smell but but it goes away. No one notices a tire smell in mine and the tire in the cab right now is brand new

I'm a huge fan of my BellFab mount, I currently have no plans of ever adding an aftermarket rear bumper to my 80 so this fit the needs perfectly. i have really not noticed any tire smell inside, now, my sniffer isn't great but if it was a problem my wife definitely would have let me know by now lol. mount is very well built and extremely sturdy.

on the tire smell, i kept a spare in my 4runner for YEARS an never noticed anything. multiple brands too. i kept it flat as there wasn't enough height to go vertical. a 33" swamper on a steel wheel was heavy but i did like others there, roll it up to my thigh, then onto the tailgate. prior to THAT i kept it on the roof and that wasn't too bad by hoisting it up on the tailgate, then hoisting it up to the roof from there....no rear hatch to deal with due to the roll down window. i was also younger :)

anyways, i'm now re-considering this inside mount instead of the GGM swingout. i still have 285's and the spare is fine down in the OE location. but 315's will require a different approach. EVERYTIME i drive i'm in the rear hatch and worry about the PITA a swingout would be for me or my kids to deal with.

i wish the Reef drawers were still available. i'd totally copy @Somebodyelse5. love that setup.

I you're in driving distance of Vermont, I have a set of reef drawers (I used both of them in my 200, but they can be split up ). I'd sell one or both.

@Bellfab any chance of a sale on these for Black Friday?
I believe we will include them as part of our Black Friday sale. I’ll be fully transparent here, a few people are already aware but we are working on a version 2 (somewhat slowly haha). The v2 is a complete design change, it’ll be fully bolt in but will essentially serve the same purpose. The main reason for the chance is ease of manufacturing and easier/ potentially cheaper shipping. I would say if you like our current version and want to save some cash it’s definitely worth picking one up while they are still available and on sale.

I’m definitely interested to hear who is interested/planning on buying one if they are on sale.

I'm definitely interested if they're on sale - my ghetto ratchet strap setup is getting annoying.

I also would hate to miss out on the latest and greatest if it's a better design. Can you share any other details at this point?

It’s still very much in the design phase so I don’t have too many details but it will use all factory bolt holes and it will be available for driver or passenger side. We are going away from the tube and it will be some sort of formed plate style. As far as improvements on the user end there will likely be some accessory mounting options on the back side which some people like especially with gull wing window or accessing through the slider window.

The main reasons for the switch on the manufacturing side is that it’ll be easier to build and on the user side it’s cheaper to ship and easier to install.

Thanks for the additional details! I would prefer the passenger side personally, but I'll deal with it because I'd prefer the tube.

It makes sense for y'all to redesign though. Can't wait for the sale!
