doesn't happen often. Might take the 40 in this direction.
Really do like that it's different. Plus I've smashed my rear
corners up pretty well.

45's are over rated. Is it me or does that look like a swb 45? I'm thinking that you would have strech the frame.

I know there is a guy that did this on a 40 chassis and it looks like the tires are really close to the cab.

Longer springs in the rear and flipped looking at about 104 or so for a wheelbase. About a 4'
bed in the back. Would just have to stretch the frame about 14".
Still in the thinking stage. (been about a year now.)

Love it! Picture that with 4-6 more inches of wheel base then put a bed on the back like the one on the mini truck in the background. Need to have the rear wheels covered to keep it street legal.

That would be a pretty cool set up, very functional, minimal sheet metal to crunch(especially with doors and top removed). I like the flat bed idea, just enough space for trail spares, spare tire, tools and maybe a cooler. Would you use a reproduction 45 tub or convert the 40 tub?

Convert the 40, that way I can make it a bit larger, practice fabricating and most important, spend less $!

lets see.... cold winter nite... a couple of beers..... surfing on mud..... what can I do to the cruiser....
better have another homebrew

Bingo!

Why not just buy a mini-truck?

Cause I've got a smashed up 40!
Its not like I'd be cutting up a pristine resto-rig.
Just getting closer to a truggy.

(Why not just buy a mini truck)

Don't mean to dis anyone, but..... There's just something in the 40, 45, etc. series that you just don't get in a mini, an FJ C, a Forerunner, a jeep, or any later LC. Thats not to say that (most of;)) those aren't great vehicles just not the same.
