. plus how the hell are you goin to trim off a in of the rim to weld the others on at home:beer:

i used a cut off wheel to cut the lip off my rims. went easy, and instaled super easy. just take your time.
(i also got the summit racing ones, and drilled them out to take more bolts.)

So why do you cut the outer lip off?

it is the design of those locks.

Most of the weld on style you just weld on. Those ones, you have to cut the outer flange off. Keeps a 8" wide rim 8" wide instead of widening it by about an inch or so..
 
But I want 9" rims. I got a clean set of 8s in the shop waiting.

So why. What makes it need to be cut off. I understand some are made for inside out outside the lip. I don't see what would make a cut off nesasary

one of the reasions i cut it off as i want to be able to mount and dismount tires myslef. if you weld it on the outside of the stock bead, it makes it very very hard to do this.

I have never had a problem gettign the first bead on myself. Taking them off however, is a serious pita!!
