Adventure Imports
Hello All-
Well summer wheeling season is in full force! We've already had several great outings and many more are in the works. More on that later. First the highlights of the meeting.
DECALS
The club decals were ordered but are still out there in shipping status somewhere. We will send an email when we receive them! Here is the kicker.....We need you to pay your dues to get a sticker! This ain't a charity and the coffers are running low after that big purchase
. It's 25$ per year (half of other clubs) starting at the first meeting (Jan/Feb). That means if you pay now you will have full membership through Jan/Feb of next year. That way we are all on the same page and Corie can track things easier.
SHIRTS
I got a quote from a local embroidery shop to have our logo printed on shirts. There is a one time $50 setup fee and after that it's $4.50-$5 per shirt for a 2"x4" logo. Larger logos cost more. The great thing about this option is that people can have some choice on shirt color and embroidery color. I will have set details soon but it looks like a good option. We are still working on a way to get the jackets screen printed.
ADOPT-A-TRAIL
We are working with the BLM on an adopt a trail agreement. My contact believes that Bangs Canyon may be available as the Jeep Club has adopted Billings Canyon. This area has huge visibility and is very popular from just about every user group. It has always been in danger of closure (indeed many parts of the area have already been closed) due to high traffic and damage from off trail use. We can do our part in helping it stay open, clean and safe!
NEW MEETING LOCATION!!!!!
Due to the volume of Naggy's great live music we must unfortunately relocate to a quieter venue. At the risk of being chastised for choosing the same location as the "Jeep People" we will begin having the meeting at FAMOUS DAVE'S! They have been very accommodating, are willing to turn off the music during our meeting and have a large private meeting area. And who doesn't like BBQ!?! The next meeting will be at FAMOUS DAVE'S (highway 50 in front of Mesa Mall), Wednesday, August 3rd at 7:00pm.
NON PROFIT STATUS
Corie is working with a local pro on establishing a non profit. If all goes well it will be fully established by the next meeting. Among many other things this will let us accept checks for dues as Book Cliff Cruisers and keep everything separate from our personal lives.
TRIPS!
Finally the reason that we are all doing this! We have several exciting trips coming up.
Oh, and did I say the meeting is at FAMOUS DAVE'S?

TRIPS!
Finally the reason that we are all doing this! We have several exciting trips coming up.
- Camp Hale (July 22-24): Rising Sun has invited us to join them on their Camp Hale weekend. The historic site of the 10th Mountain Division will be the base camp for a weekend of wheeling from scenic to severe! Camp Hale is situated in a scenic mountain valley near Leadville, CO. We currently have 2 club vehicles signed up and can accept 3 more. Please let us know ASAP if you wish to attend so that we can let Rising Sun know our head count.
- Ouray and the San Juan's (July 29-31): This will be an exceptional weekend of wheeling in the San Juan's. I'm marketing this as a family event so bring the kiddos! We will travel the Alpine Loop, Ophir and Imogene and make camp in Ironton Park (undeveloped camping area outside of Ouray near Red Mountain Pass). We will be close enough to Ouray that people can head to town if so desired but far enough to only hear our own banjo music. The 29th is a travel/setup camp day with all day runs on both Saturday and Sunday.
- Battlement Mesa (TBD Late Aug-Early Sept.) Alan Brown will be leading a trip up onto Battlement Mesa (the mountain between Parachute/Rifle and Collbran). This will be a challenging run for non stock vehicles only. Should be a very interesting time. If you have never been up there, the top of Battlement Mesa looks very much like the top of the Grand Mesa. More info on this trip at the August Meeting.
- Cruiser-Q (Sept. 24-25): Alan has introduced us to the Cruiser-Q, a Toyota offroad event with BBQ! Who could ask for more! This will be a great chance to meet new people and explore the Flat Tops outside of Glenwood Springs. It's a family friendly event. Everyone will travel to the Flat Tops and make camp to enjoy BBQ. The next day will include runs from mild to wild.
- Women's Run (TBD): It's long over due guys! It's time to give up the wheel and let your princess or queen take control. Several of our awesome women will be planning, organizing and driving a special women's run this fall. Guys are welcome to tag along but no back seat driving!. Should be a great day out.
