CANCELLED

The guy that organized the Nevada Ghost Town trip I participated in last May is driving out from Atlanta to run some Colorado trails. He is meeting me in Cedaredge this Monday 26th and we plan to run over Grand Mesa via Leon Lake Trail, then do Battlement Mesa Trail and finally up Transfer Trail to the Flattops. He will head to Denver via Dotsero on Friday to meet his wife. He plans to meet with some Explorer friends to run Crystal/Schofield over the weekend, but not sure if I will join them as that trail will be too busy for my taste.

Any BCC folks are welcome to join us Monday to Friday.

Canceled. Scott has an job interview next week that changed our plans entirely. He did know about this until yesterday.

Back ON again. meeting Scott in Marble about 3:00 today and probably heading to either Battlement Mesa or Adams Lake. Will post again when plans get narrowed down. Anyone looking for something to do this weekend? Join us.

We met in Crystal; Scott in his ranger and Brian in an Explorer. I tried not to come out with any Ford jokes. We did the normal touristy thing at the mill then went in search of a campsite. I had seen a recent post in another forum about lots of camping along the river between Marble and Crystal. Truth is there is nearly none any bigger than a parking space. We found a decent spot up the Lead King Basin road about a half mile. Had a nice fire until a t-storm chased us to bed. Sunday we finished the LKB loop, lunch and exploring in Marble (where we bumped into Dan), then C-dale for fuel. We were going to head up to A-lake but my guests decided they wanted to go to Ouray. I tried my best to convince them that Ouray on Labor Day weekend was not a good idea. Scott was worried about his truck overheating on the Transfer Trail so they went south while I stopped at the top of McClure pass and camped for two nights. Back was bothering so mostly I just cooled my heals there. Despite moderate traffic around Crystal it was not near as crowded as expected though places to camp were scarce. Still it's beautiful as ever up there.

It was good seeing you and Kyla in Marble. After we split Malee and I went on up to Crystal. then we took Kebler Pass back to Crested Butte for dinner. Then the long drive back to Ridgway. Was a long day but a good one.
