Do you guys know if it is normal for the battery needle to fluctuate while driving? What I mean by fluctuate is the needle moving a little up then down. I notice it when I accelerate.

My old Silverado used to do that and i couldnt figure out what was wrong so me and my buddy started checking everything under the hood and the main connector to my distributer was loose...may not be the problem but its worth a look.

No distributor on the FJ, but it could be a loose connection on the alternator or battery.

Wow didnt even think about that when i posted that...

I had a 87' Renault GTA that did this. We diagnosed the problem and eventually came to the conclusion that the regulator on the alternator was faulty.

Hope this helps, good luck.
