New to the GX platform, less than a week in, new. Picked up a pretty clean Cypress Pearl '07. It needed tires anyway so first order of business was wheels/tires. I was looking aroudn for some factory 17" Tacoma take-offs but landed on a really goo deal on some 2025 Tacoma Trail hunter 18's that I couldn't turn down. 18x8.5s with +20mm offset, wearing factroy GoodYear Wrangler Territory RTs in 265/70/18. I did have to use a spacer/hub adapter, but I think they look pretty good all in all. They are a tight fit, and I get some liner rubbing though, not a big deal to me, but, gives me an excuse to go ahead and knock out a lift ahead of schedule.

Factory air is still installed in the rear, albeit with newer bags. I'm leaning towarsd teh Bilstein/OME kit from Yotamafia with "medium duty" coils for that 2-2.5" lift. What else am I opening myself up to NEEDING to do that I'm not thinking about here?

-Extending brake lines?
-Replacing UCAs?
-Replacing CVs?

Or am I really good to just grab this "kit," slap it in and ride for a while?

Are there any better bang for the buck ways to grab another 2-2.5"? This is more or less a road daily with occasional light off-road use, nothing major.... for now.

Thanks

When I bought my 2003 GX470 back in 2017, I kept the rear airbags for like 4 years before I converted to a long travel rear with coils.

My rear air bags were Lexus oem and were only like 5 years old, so relatively new.

I did replace the front coilovers and the rear shocks and I was doing some offroad stuff with a 2.5” lift in front and 1.75” in the rear. Extended rear center brake lines if you lift the rear more than 2” or remove the rear sway bar. You need them only if you need extra articulation over 2”.

So, if you are not ready to let go the rear air bags, you could keep them longer and just upgrade the front coilovers and matching rear shocks. You can even trick the air bags to get the 1.75” lift in the rear. Search airbag trick.

UCAs are fine with a 2.5” lift upfront. Upgrade only if you go over 2.5” lift or your bushings or ball joints are bad.

Oh and cv axles replace only if there’s an issue like ripped boots, leaks, or noises.

I bought a pair of Toyota oem reman cv axles like two years ago and they are in storage.
