question just put in aftermarket gauges .on my heat gauge it reads 190 which i suppose is fine.but my question is after i turn the car off it shoots to 200 or as much as 210 in really hot conditions.then when i turn the car back on it goes down to normall or below.at the snap of a finger.now when i put my thermostat in i was in a hard place did not have the rubber gasket (or ring whatever its called) that goes inside the housing but of course i had the gasket itself.would that have any affect or could it be as simple as a rad.cap.thanks guys chris

It is doing what it should. When you turn the motor off the fan stops and no more water circulates around the motor. So it heats up a bit.

As long as the temp drops when you turn it back on everything is working correctly..

very good. my memery left me ya know worry and all in this type of weather.i just remember reading somewhere about that piece thats goes inside of the housing could cause a problem.but that was months ago.thank you mace
