How fast did you cruise with the 3FE? 62ish?

I am rolling on 33's, she was happy cruising @ 75 across 80. Sometimes she crept closer to 80, wind and rain had us going slower.

I do wish I had a 5 spd...

@PabloCruise

The Bacon Express has 30”s on it. Bet the 33”s bring down your rpms 300 or more. I think a 4 speed has the same 1:1 as the 3 speed.

Be wanting that H55 after about 30min I imagine.

Realllllly want some 33x9.5 TSLs on it. Tractor tires for a tractor truck.

Calculator says about 2400 RPM at 70 MPH on 31s with my Toyota 4spd and 27% Ranger overdrive. Just have to put up with the noise of straight cut gears. Cruised right along at 75-80 MPH on the way home. Best gas mileage doing that with the new TBI 350 was a little over 13 MPG, which I figured is not bad for an engine that left home with 300 miles on it and only turned 1000 miles somewhere between Grouse Creek and City of Rocks. That should improve with a little more run time. Saving up for an H55 which has the same overdrive ratio in 5th gear. Next tires will be 33s, which will add some rubber overdrive.

Two best quotes from bob on our way back
1) nice looking girl passed us so I sped up he looked over and said hey don’t blow my motor for a nice rack
2) coming down through Vermont over the mountains hey don’t forget about the brakes we don’t have
Lol it was such an awesome trip can’t wait to do it again good luck you’ll have a blast :steer::cool::beer:

Pretty sure I will put some 235/85-16s with City Racer rims on mine. Lots more choices in that size if you like tall and skinny.

That’s what I put on mine with Cooper Discoverer A/T3’s. 32” dia. Pizza cutters 6” wide. 11% increase in speed 75mph all day long. Lose a bit of torque on inclines. Love being able to keep up with traffic on long hauls

Lucky stickers and last minute bearings.

All I really need to pack.

Words cannot describe the kindness and badassery of @J Mack we have been at his shop alllll day packing bearings, rebuilding knuckles, moving fuel lines, draining and filling gear boxes, pressure testing radiators, selling body parts, and even taking my son for a ride in his KOH 600hp FJ55.

Picking up the trunnion bearings in the morning and she should be good.

She’ll never be as badass as his 55s, but she’s a keeper.

I'm in Boise area and have a shop if you need or want to do some prep trip maintenance.
Deo has my number he can forward it to you

Grand Junction was a bridge too far.
Too dark, too s***ty headlights, too curvy mtn roads, too old of steering.

So Price Utah here we spend the night.

470 miles in 9 hours after putting her back together all morning until 2pm. Not a bad day.

Today’s lucky shirt

It did seem like Grand Junction was really ambitious. You’ll have straight roads from Price to Grand Junction and some beautiful country to see, especially south of Grand Junction! If you make Pagosa Springs around dinner, I highly recommend the Pagosa brewery.
