I am a big fan of the look of baby moons on both cars and trucks. Be it plain black steel wheels or wheels painted to match the body paint.

I have a 1994 FZJ80 and was going to put together a set of plain steel wheels from what I can find in the local salvage yards. Probably some 16x7's from later model Tacomas and/or 4 runners.

Most of these factory steel wheels are pretty standard to run a set of baby moon hubcaps on them aren't they? Looking at the factory spares from these trucks. Seems like they just pop in the center of these rims.

And by 'baby moons' I am refering to any of the small hubcaps that cover the center, not just the smooth chrome ones. We have a 79 ramcharger that has factory baby moons on it and they just pop in like regular hubcaps. They are a bit deeper than smooth baby moons and may need to be to cover the hubs.

Thanks for any input and if you are running baby moons I would love to see some photos.

Thanks.

Something like these;

Would they pop in to newer standard toyota steel wheels or only the older FJ40 wheels?

I know its been quite awhile since last post, but its best to check which center cap types fit whatever rims BEFORE you buy them. Since the late-90s, early '00s, Toyota rims are not all mix n match anymore with center caps.

First off, the FJ40 you posted, those caps will be hard to fit on anything other than the rims they were made for. They have several tabs/clips welded to the wheels, around the outer edge of the hubcaps.

Some of the later steel wheels have 6 "tabs" in the center hole, that the center caps clip into, not like a complete normal circle opening, like the older steelies.

I didnt realise the new centers were like that till I bought a set of 05-11 Tacoma steelies...I dont like the "new" style caps that go with them, so I'm digging up caps from the 90's that will fit, or that I can mod to fit.

I can post pics if anyone is interested...
