i can compress the OME maybe about 1-1.75 inches, the kyb's i cannot compress at all.

compared to the kyb's that i have in my hand i cannot compress the kyb's

however the ome mediums i can compress why is that?

does that mean the ome's are worn out?

OME is a twin tube low pressure design from what i know. The KYBs are probably high pressure gas charged. They OMEs by virtue of their design will be much easier to compress as opposed the the KYBs that are quite difficult to compress as you noticed. Now do you see why you were told to leave the strap on the shock until you got one end installed? If you had the truck on jackstands you could to what i did and attach both ends of the shock and then jack the ubolt plate into postion. Ive heard people using rachet straps and other such things to compress shocks if you cant do that.

what he said.

This also why the KYB high pressure gas charged shocks give a very jarring ride compared to the OMEs. The OMEs absorb the bump while the KYBs transmit it to the rest of the truck.

The high pressure gas shock are only necessary if you plan to do some high speed off-road racing. For crawling around in a Land Cruiser, the OMEs are a much better choice.

IMO
