Was looking at my crawler and was wondering why my steering seemed lame.. Doesn't seem like there is anything causing binding or limiting the wheels but it turns really poorly.. Gotta back up and reposition all the time.. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Yep, jfz80's does the same thing! I don't know why. I know my Losi turns a lot better and we both have almost the same steering servo.

Yeah I went out and bought a heavy duty servo but no difference.. Maybe a longer arm on the servo?? Seems weird that it would it have such lame steering

I will post up a pic later, but have a new servo horn/ arm and doesn't appear to be any binding just lack of throw on the servo..

Hmm... I will have to look into that.. Did get a new radio last spring when I went into the modern age of digital receivers.. Have three cars and got sick of three radios. Thanks for the tip

not speaking for jfz80 as he can chime in soon...

he tried to adjust on his radio as well, but haven't seen any difference. I honestly don't get it. It has to be a geometry thing IMHO

I did adjust on my radio and did see differences in the steering. It just was not able to get the full desired range of motion set up like it is. Like mentioned you can set your End Point adjustments as well as 50%-150% of steering input.

I noticed im at full reach with my servo horn and at the last hole for adjustment so i suspect ill be moving to a longer horn and trimming so it doesnt hit tie rod. Also my TRE's are shot and the wheels wobble like crazy after a season of hard wheeling. I suspect this slack adds to its innefficiencies.

I didnt like geometry in 6th grade either but im not blaming my steering on it :D
I do believe the LOSI has a greater steering range of motion most likely from the knuckles. Of course you can do some modding with a dremel or a wallet and get a few more degrees. Some super 300s and CVD's will get you 5* more i believe. Im running mine till it breaks first; just got to get good at 17pt turns.

Yeah looking more at the front end it seems the knuckles are the weak link.. But I m not really i'n the mood to buy new ones. Maybe I will try trimming the ones I have to see if that helps..

I've got a question about the Axial I just bought and its steering.

It seems some of the time, while crawling, if it gets stuck or hung up while I have the wheels turned (servo is active), the throttle will not respond when I try to reverse out. Let off the steering, and reverse works...

Is that a sign that the battery is getting low? All the power is being dumped into the steering servo and there is nothing left for reverse until I let off the steering?

sounds like it.

I am all stock up front.. So I guess it is time to look to the after market...
