Man, I missed a bunch of questions here!!
Hey Kevin, I havent read the entire thread so sorry if this has been addressed, but i would like a hood antenna mount, but for a BJ73. They have rubber windscreen blocks and latches. Would you need the hole pattern, or could you provide one undrilled for a custom installation? Mt truck is RHD so would need to mount the antenna on the left side and tilt to the right. Doable? Thanks.
Jed, I can make you an antenna mount with no holes but it will have to wait a bit as I will have to make a custom piece and slip it in to production somewhere.
Hello Kevin
Would you be able to supply the "Toyota" stamped tailgate panel on its own for a 64 FJ45. My frame for the tailgate is quite good so no need for a whole gate.
Thank you
RK
RK, I can but I make the skins in bulk to keep the cost down and you would have to wait until the next run. I don't currently know when I will have enough interest (read sales lined up) to start another run. I seem to have no end to the parts requests coming in lately and it's a struggle to keep up to the demand as I am a one man band. Currently I am done the FJ45 rear sills but now am making vacuum tanks and re-stocking E-74 sills and 08/76-12/78 sills. Then I will be looking to use up my extra bits of leftover tailgate parts. That is when I will be making some more skins. Hopefully before xmas!
Hey K, I knew it was a matter of time that all that brain chatter would start producing parts again, now I got to ask what is in your head for the Brush guard and Overhead tray. I use to have a brush guard almost like that shown on one of my FJ40's, loved that thing, kept a lot of branches pocking holes in things. As for the over head tray I made two that I had to bend and weld that were okay for a few FJ40 but I am ready for a new and better one for the 45. Keep us posted on those dreams.
The overhead tray is basically ready to debut. I have installed my second version now and there were a couple of fitment tweeks needed to make it go in easier. The holes (radio, gauges, switches etc.) required by each guy will be entirely different so I plan to sell it as a "blank" with no holes cut. It will be aluminum and can easily be cut by using a hole saw/ jigsaw/ file by anyone with the most basic of skils. I can't make each one custom because the cost in time would be too much.
The brush guard prototype is also installed on my rig now. It is something I could produce now as well but I would need several guys wanting one before I would be able to produce them. Again, the time required to make them one by one is too much. I need to make 5-10 at a time in order to be efficient with my time and make a consistent product.
Here's what I propose: I will flesh out the posts on the first page for the overhead console and the brush guard. I will state in those posts that we are at a "pre-production" stage and need interested parties to post up. Also I will attempt to find ways to slip photo's of them into general threads in the 40 section to attract interest - not everybody looks here in the classifieds. That's a bit tricky as I don't want to seem like I'm advertising in other peoples threads. I used to post a lot in the 40 section but I find myself with very little time these days. One method I could use to re-introduce myself to all the new members would be to start a thread or two on my rig or the rebuild I am starting shortly on my brother's '71. That would get me back in the thick of it.
I'm rambling, but you get the idea anyway.
i am also interested in the fuel tank u made and a gauge cluster for the front window frame 3 pod
Birdman, Fuel tanks scare me. Liability. I am perfectly comfortable making mine or my brother's tank but a little leery of producing a long range tank for sale. I could try and absolve myself of liability with a disclaimer but that wouldn't hold up in a fiery death crash situation. I dunno, I'll have to think about that.
Gauge pods are in stock. They are a little finiky to use and install. You gotta have a bit of hand skills of your own to install them. I know I myself had to struggle a bit to get it to work nice. Once it's in though it works great.
