To further discuss this as a possible modification arose from this thread:

You might want to reach out to sleeoffroad and 4x4atsdotcom if you are interested in aux fuel tanks.

I looked into this several years ago. The Prado 120 has OEM dual tanks. The difficulty is in obtaining the OEM items and the cost.

Custom tank w/ secondary OEM pump system is an option. There is a ton of tech on dual tanks in 80's tech. If you want to go custom, the info is directly applicable.

This is an excellent writeup on what it would take to add a aux tank.

Obtaining the parts is easy. Shipping will suck if you just take one.

If you are serious about this and not just tire kicking drop me a PM and I will see what Toyota wants for the goodies.

I am not 100% sure which chassis the FJ is on so we might be shooting in the dark at first.

I take it you are in Japan? Yes, the real issue (as always, it seems) is the cost. It is very expensive.

I already got price est. from AUS and looked into all the major parts needed.
I will find it and post it up for the FJC members if they are considering this.

The FJC will be closest to the 2003+ 3 door Land Cruiser Prado. I am not sure if the OEM AUX Tank is only avail. on the 5-door Prado but either way, it can be made to work.

There is an excellent article in the latest Toyota Trails. A TLCA member built a custom AUX Tank for @$570 total! Very good writeup and details on the construction of the tank, sender unit, etc. Check it out.

Man I would love to see that article in TT. You can see some good articles in 4WD toy owner then :D

I think aftermarket would be the easiset for the FJC as the frame is somewhere between the PRado 5dr (4r/GX) and Prado 3dr. The Prado 3dr only has a tank under the cargo area, no aux tank, just main.

I picked up a marine fuel tank that came with sender,pick-up tube installed.
should fit right behind the axle. Have not tried it but the mock-up was good.
Do not have total $ yet but tank was $140 with shipping transfer pump
shouldn't be to much and some hose. will post some pics when I get goning.

Have an '07 FJC and would love to see that TT article and "torpedo" you solution if you have it finished up.
