August long trip

I was hoping to get out this weekend and meet a few new faces, and wheel with some I havent seen in quite some time. Unfortunately it doesnt seem to be in the cards. I need to look at the truck after chasing a few Jeeps through the mud last weekend and wont have the time.

Why yes, Byron, I sure am. I've had the (mis?) fortune to start a brand new job this week. Only means I cant get down there until later however, I'm a comin! Work until 6 as far as I can tell, then hammer down from site in Red Deer. Corey and possibly Gherra will have my number. Let me know where you end up and I will find it.

I think the plane crash trail is also closed to trucks. Unless that's changed.

The Quad squad takes care of this trail and have added a number of high birms to slow vehicles down and discourage certain vehicles and attitudes on the trail. Otherwise its still open to truck traffic as long as we are respectful. There are a couple of difficult obstacles; a mud pit and bypass. But other than that the trail is quite easy. The views up top are outstanding.

The Power Lines, although a short trail and close to the Town of Lille, is outstanding. The view at the top overlooks the Frank Slide. This trail is somewhat trickier with steep shally ascents and 100-200' (perhaps more) drop offs beside the trail. Quite easy to have a rollover event if one's not careful.

Yup, I have your number, but not sure if there is cell service at the campsite. My plan is to meet up in Copperfield, Calgary around 6. Might be able to send you the coords and some directions once we get to the site.

The power lines - is that the one that goes up to the top of that small mountain with very few trees? The one you can see the trail switchbacks from Lillie? If so, I was told that it was private land. Too bad cuz the view up there would be awesome.

I was wondering if someone will please confirm the meeting spot in Calgary? Is it the Shell on McIvor Blvd in Copperfield? Directions or address? Thanks

As far as I know its not private land unless its now fenced off. If so then no joy.

great trip. looking forward to the pics and heading back to the livingstone falls area.

Great run. Enjoyed the scenery and company. They say you measure the journey in terms of friends and not miles. This one was outstanding. I look forward to seeing all on the trail again.
