Ace and I are looking at a Trail Ride the weekend of August 16-18. We are considering Schofield Pass, Lead King Basin, Paradise Divide for a one day run. We are open to an overniter in the same area if anyone is interested in which we can consider a few other Pass's such as Tincup Pass, Tomichi Pass and Hancock Pass. A lot of great and interesting old mining towns in the area to explore.

Post up if you are interested.

I would love to do that but can't make those dates. If you could push it back to around September 6-8 I can probably do it.

Have a commitment on that Saturday in Buena Vista so can't make it. We did Schofield and Paradise last summer and had a great time...actually Paradise twice, once in the Pig and once in a bone stock '53 CJ5. Have a mid-day meeting in Glenwood Springs this coming Saturday and tentative plans are to go on to Ashcroft, camp, and then over either Pearl or Taylor into Crested Butte Sunday. Kinda worried about getting Bonnie's promised ten nights sleeping on the ground in before snow flies.
Have fun next weekend...

I'm available to do that run with you. I was considering doing it this coming weekend but I can hold off. Definitely gonna camp in crested butte though.

Sounds good. We can't do the Sept 6-8 weekend as Ace and I along with about 8 others are doing the CruiserFest run to Tooele, Utah at that time. What works best for those interested as far as meeting up location, date, time? I am off work Thurs, Fri and Saturday. I need to return to GJ by Saturday night.

There is also a trail called Williams Pass that the Forest Service opens only during the month of August each year for vehicles. I would like to run it sometime during the 16-18th. It is just outside of Tincup (Taylor Park) and where the Alpine Tunnel is located.

Ok, how does meeting in Carbondale sound for all those interested on Thursday August 14th about noon? We can head over Scofield Pass thru Crystal City from Carbondale.

Which way are you guys headed in from Junction? There is a slim possibility I could leave friday but Saturday start is a sure thing. To run Lead King we could meet in Carbondale or Marble depending on which way you're coming from. If we run in the Taylor park area, Aspen or any place before that on 82 is logical. I'm also signed up to do the CruiserFest run in Sept so it'll be good to meet up with Ace.

14th is to early in the week for me. New job and I'd be pushing it with the boss.

I am off work Thurs thru Saturday. We could just make it a one day run and plan on meeting Saturday morning in Carbondale. I usually just drive up I-70 from GJ. We can run Scofield and Paradise Basin on Saturday and just call it a day run instead of an overniter.
I usually return back to GJ over Kebler Pass.

I was not aware of CruiserFest but googled it and it sounds like fun. I may join you guys for that if there is room and I can get additional time off.

A saturday run sounds good to me. We can explore a few side trails if there is any extra time and I am still gonna camp in Crested Butte on Saturday night. Let's do it! Meeting time is up to you cause I'm only ten minutes from Carbondale.

Looks like we'll be going over Taylor Pass from Ashcroft to Taylor Park and Crested Butte this Sunday morning. I'm told Pearl is still closed by a 4' snow "plug." If memory serves, it'll be an easier slog downhill on the reservoir side of the pass than scrambling up from there. Headed up the Muddy from Collbran and Vega this afternoon, then out on McClure tomorrow morning to a midday meeting in Glenwood, then on the Ashcroft for Saturday night. Home via CB on Sunday.

Ok. Jim, sorry you can't make it this next weekend. My wife and I just returned from Taylor Park on a camping and ATVing get-away. Love that area!
Mike, I guess we can meet up in Carbondale about 9am Saturday morning. I have to work Sunday, so no overniter for me. Is there a good coffee shop in Carbondale you want to meet? Ace may be camping/wheeling in the Flat Top area this week and will hopefully get these posts as well. I may also bring another one or two buddies/rigs from GJ with me as well.

Bonfire Coffee on Main Street.

Yep, found this but after 7 days out here I may have to pass. I'm really tired and may have to get home for some needed rest. We will be wheeling around Ouray next two days. Black Bear and Imogene maybe.

Dan, if you can make it you need to register soon. Ten is the limit and we have five now. Be good to have you join us.

Mike, Lets plan on meeting at the old Marble General Store at 9 am Satruday morning. A buddy and I will drive over from GJ thru Delta and McClure Pass. We'll plan in lunch in Crested Butte before we head back over Kebler Pass.

Okay, that sounds great. I'm assuming it's the building on Main and 1st that now houses Slow Groovin BBQ. I'll be in the gravel parking lot across the street at 9am.

Had a great time on Saturday with you guys, and gal. The route we took was truly spectacular and I hope to do it again soon. Pics will be up soon. Today I ran Reno Divide, Italian Creek, and Taylor Pass. Upper Reno had a really sketchy obstacle on a steep ledge where I decided to turn around and go the easier way. Below the obstacle was a dark blue mangled mess of an suv and I took it as a polite suggestion to wait until I at least had a spotter through that section. Later on I noticed a strong fuel smell and found that my fuel hard line out of the pump had a split and was dumping gas all over the place. After patching that I decided to continue with the fuel I had left and made it over the pass to the gas station. What a day.

^^ Sounds like a great trip despite a few issues. I know John talked to you about joining BCC and we hope you will. Our club is at a low point right now but the more active and interested members we can recruit will only help us revive. We should have a meeting in September.
