I bought a used set of ARB Steps (ARB Part 4411010). They came with these rubber mud guard doohickeys:

I believe they attach to the bottom of the rear door flare, to prevent your rear wheels from spitting up onto the steps.

Has anyone installed these, and do you remember how they attached?

Any advice would be welcome!

Thanks,

I beleive those are factory, not Arb? They mount to the bottom of the rear doors to keep the mud, etc off of the running boards. If no one else chimes in I can get a picture for you later in the day.

Lay flat on your back under the door and look up. There is a metal piece that acts as a washer but washers would work as well. It will be fairly self evident once you are looking up at it.

Am I understanding that these rubber guards were factory on some trucks, not part of the ARB steps, as I originally thought?

I don't have the metal piece on my doors. Fender washers should do the trick, though. Looks like I have a plastic body clip where you have a bolt.

For some reason, I missed the above post. Thanks!

Yeah, fender washers should do the trick. I may still have mine from when I took the running boards off and threw them away. I kept the hardware and soft plastic stuff. If I have them you can have them.

I'll check tonight or this weekend.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

The metal inserts (washer things) have a nipple on them that sticks through to help position them or something. I can send you just the metal inserts or the whole boot things. You tell me. Message me your shipping info.

OK ...I'm reopening an old thread.

Just a couple of questions,
Does anyone have (or know a source for) a pair of these mud guards that mount on the door flare (as discussed above) for-sale? Or the older style running board rear end-cap, which was designed as a mud guard to keep mud off the running board?

My 97 LC is missing these ...& I would prefer to have them. Any/all info is appreciated.

Thanks !!!

Still looking?

Darb-
Yeah, I found the mud guards ...$25 new for the right side ...$35 used for the left side (go figure!) And about double that w/shipping to Costa Rica. They are nice to have over having nothing, but they are not a fine example of Toyota engineering. I could have come up with a better design!

Anyhow, thank-you for the interest !
