I am installing an arb front bull bar and am wondering about skidplates as the one on there now will not fit also any tips for air intake and any problems others have had

Hi all,

Try "Budbuilt.com" for skid plates.

How did the install go on the bull bar? How involved was it? (Curious since I am considering getting one for my Tacoma.)

Regards,

Alan

BudBuilt makes great stuff and, after making my own IFS skid plate, the BudBuilt skid plates are really a very good value.

Per Air intake, what issues are you having? Toyota designed that intake in a specific way, for a specific reason. Other than adding a snorkel for water/dust, I don't see any reason to change it.

there's many good options for skids in addition to budbuilt

Pelfreybilt (also available in aluminum), pelfreybilt off-road
BAMF 2005-2015 Tacoma IFS skid
Relentless Toyota
RCI (aluminum) 2005+ Tacoma

i ran a volant CAI on my '06 for many years without issue...one suggestion would be to get a MAF calibrator from URD (http://urdusa.com/store/Electronics...1/URD-MAF-Sensor-Calibrator/product_info.html) to help with your AFR. the stock intake tubing is larger diameter than CAI intakes, so the MAF will think more air is coming in than there actually is...i also had the ram air option with my volant

you can re-map the MAF calibrator if you change your setup later...Gadget at URD has been very helpful in the past with my changes...i had to change back to the stock intake setup for the snorkel and he provided a new map to get the most out of it

you do get slightly better MPG with the CAI systems typically..within a couple weeks i ran the volant, then back to stock before installing my Airflow snorkel and saw my MPG drop when i went back to stock then regain with the snorkel.

i also suggest AFE filters...they have the Pro Dry series which does not require re-oiling when you clean the filters...makes maintenance real easy with the benefits of aftermarket air filters...
