Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests - Forest Plan Revision Update - August 2008
Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,
The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests (ASNFs), located in east-central Arizona, are in the process of revising their Forest Plan. The Forest Service (FS) will be hosting several open house style meetings during the month of September to begin focusing on the next stage of the revision process-writing the revised forest plan. Dates, locations, and times for these meetings are listed below. This is an opportunity for the public to provide feedback and help develop the strategic direction for the Forests.
The objective for the meetings is to gather public input regarding desired conditions for the forests. Desired conditions are one of the primary components of a revised forest management plan, they "paint the picture," describing what the forests should look like or provide.

The FS will be accepting comments during the upcoming open houses, but if you are unable to attend one of the meetings, you can also submit written comments to: Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests' Forest Plan Revision Team at PO Box 640, Springerville, Arizona 85938 or by e-mail to asnf.planning@fs.fed.us. Your comments will be most useful if received by October 15, 2008.
The Comprehensive Evaluation Report will be available for your review soon. This report is the forest plan revision analysis document that provides an evaluation of social, economic, and ecological conditions and trends in and around the ASNFs. The information outlined in the Comprehensive Evaluation Report identifies the need to change or revise the 1987 forest plan. When completed, this document will be available for review and will be located on the forests' Web site http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/asnf/plan-revision/documents.shtmlor available by request. Key background information for this report can be found in the Ecological Sustainability and the Economic and Social Assessment reports and will also located on the Web site.
