Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests Releases DEIS for Public Motorized Travel Management Plan
Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,
The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, located in east-central Arizona, has announced the release of their Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Public Motorized Travel Management Plan for public review. The project implements the Travel Management Rule, which requires national forests to designate a system of roads, trails, and areas for motorized use.
The Forest Service (FS) is asking for your input during a 45-day comment period, which began on October 29, 2010, and will end on December 13, 2010. Comments should clearly state your issues and concerns with the alternatives and are most helpful when focused on specific roads, motorized trails and areas.
Documents and maps are posted on the Forest's website at http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/asnf/projects/travel-management.shtml. There are large maps of the alternatives available on the forests travel management website or they can be viewed at the Supervisors Office and each Ranger District Office.
