I just installed my OME lift on my FJ and currently have P275/70/17's on it. I still have a boat load ofroom in the fenderwells and am thinking about installing some 305/70/17's (34") tires. Has anyone else tried this combination?

i have 285's they fit well no rubbing tried 305s they rubbed too much thats why i did not go with them . how much lift does the ome give you. my lift is only 3"

This is not exactly applicable to you, but I have had trouble finding large off-road tires that will do mud well and allow me to do more than 60mph w/o jittering me nuts and I have found that Bridgestone's Dueler A/T's 305/70R16 clean out well in mud yet are nearly car-tire quiet on hwy and smooth as silk 70mph+. Maybe they have 17's maybe not, but not even the BFGoodrich I had were this good in mud or high speed.

SilverFJ- FYI, 305/70s are 32.8" tires, not 34".

fadetogrey- I didn't know Bridgestone made 305/70 size tires. I just searched Bridgestone's site and cannot find that size. You sure you're not talking about BFGs?

I have Bridgestone 305/70/16 (non revo) on my 80. Check out tirerack.com.

BTW, 305/70/17's are around 34". 305/70/16's are about 33". You have to add the extra inch of rim.

Dirk- you're right, of course, about the 34" tire size. Not sure what I'm smoking, but I need to go find some more.

I'll checkout the non-revos.

do you still want to sell your 275's? I have been trying to reach you via your forsale post but haven't had any luck. PM me back if you do.

I installed the OME 884 Front and 895 Rear combination and yeilded 2.5" lift in front and 3" in the rear. Very happy with the lift and easy to install. The ride is firmer, but not uncomfortable. I noticed the front firmness only on speed bumps and the rear is noticable during normal driving, but not harsh. I have a boat load of room in the wheel wells and was hoping to run P305/70/17 GY MTR's on stock rims.

If had a lift I would get the 255/85/16s - love those pizza cutters!

I spend enough time offroad in deep snow that those would be awesome. I know Expeditions West is running that size in the BFG MTs. He has a great write up on the advantages and disadvantages of narrow tires.

I would think the 305s would create backspacing issues. Just a guess, though. And even with the lift, I think you might have to grind down the body mount in the rear of the front fender wells. What a lousy place for a body mount to stick out.
