Hi all.
I posted this in the chat section, It was suggested I post in the SC area, I have no idea if I should have posted it here or in another SC section.
However...

I have a friend who was asking me about it, I have no way to see myself, so I ask the good people of Mud for any help.

Obviously the wheels aren't to my liking and there are no pics of the engine bay, I'm also unsure if there is much issues with rust in SC.
Thanks!

I am not a 100% sure but I think this truck has been for sale for a while. They had a yellow one that looked very similar to this one. With us being on the coast and some salt air it does have an effect on these old trucks. This dealer has been around for awhile. No price, description, undercarriage or engine photos bit strange since that is important when selling an old car. I would also be leery off one around here without a top we get alot of rain.

yes there can be rust issues especially here on coast...Summerville is not that far inland and no promises it was in that area exclusively. if he is serious could likely get over and check it out...or better yet if he can talk the seller to take it to a mechanic of your friend for an outside inspection that would be best. LexTech Automotive LLC is in West Ashley and does pre purchase checks and is very well respected and member of club here.

That would be his best bet since Glenn owns 100s and 80 series and just sold a diesel 40 series this past year he had for a long time...so he knows Land Cruisers.

this is funny. I just found this thread - and Glenn knows that 40. I took it to him - for a pre purchase inspection. This was the first 40 I had seriously looked at - mostly because there aren't many in the Low Country.

You could see rust developing under paint, but i thought what the heck. Dealership had it listed for $18k- would consider $16k since it was on 'clearance' - I knew they would be high. Glenn found (i didnt even notice) that it had previously been a SOA front end. We also discovered serious rust under rear, shot wheel bearings, metal shaving in front diff... leaking seals on front knuckles, floor boards were so rusted that the 3/16" bolts holding the roll cage (yeah, you read that right) down didnt matter. No ignition switch - just a push button, fuel leak on the return line under the cab, 13" steering wheel (and no power steering). so many problems, Glenn said 'I wouldn't buy it' and i decided to run - away.

I returned it to dealer, thanked them and told them a little of what we found - and they said they would rather auction it off than sell it for what I offered. I said OK - and kept looking. Very happy that I did (pass and move on).

Common come back from dealer " we will just auction it off". I have been told that a couple of times. I usually say what auction I will go bid on it there, I love auctions. I love the look on their faces because it really throws them. You can get really clean 40's for mid teens just not around here. Mceleeven seems to have land cruisers time to time and they always over price them.
