anyone have a pic of a rear step?

Played with the bead blast cabinet today. This came off of Mark's FJ25. Any idea if the cut outs are factory and why they would they braze them in? I don't see a purpose for them... Were the 25 steps different than the 40 steps? Or was this one cut up from a PO?

I do not know a definitive answer to your question, but that sure looks like my 40 step with the addition of considerable mutilation. I have seen where people did that sort of thing especially adding structural support to an adlib trailer ball hole.

I hope you're right because it sure would be easier to just cut the whole front off of it and weld in new than try to fix these damn cut outs.

Maybe it's a cutout for your legs when you're reaching into the rear tub.
