He doesnt go into detail on the relay but I'm guessing it's the Blue Sea automatic charging relay, which I have on my truck and has been absolutely trouble free and completely dependable for years.
It's the unit with the yellow lever on top. It comes with a dash switch also, for manual control.

There is a better way for jump starting using the second battery than his method and the blue sea charging relay allows for this. I'll explain if you have interest.
