Hey all,

I'm a Chicago kid, but I am most likely going to Dartmouth for school. Is anyone on here a Dartmouth student/alum?

I want to bring my FJ40 up to school with me, but driving would be a hassle and shipping is crazy expensive...if I had some other cruisers up near Dartmouth, that would be more incentive....;p

Eric

A bunch of nice cruisers up near Dartmouth. One of the Docs over at the hospital has a sweet 40
that was from Cruiser Solutions. Our club Prez lives just across the river in Vt. Bring it!

I would love to bring it to school. I know as a freshman I won't be able to, but hopefully my later years I will be able to.

Maybe i'll throw a plow on to make some extra spending money...

Park it at my house and leave the keys. I'll let you use it over the summer

If you put a plow on that in NH, there won't be anything left of it by your sophomore year

A number of 80's around, as well as a few nce 60's and 62's. I run into FJ40's every so often, a few REALLY nice ones owned by Doc's at DHMC and such.

Congrats on getting in, I've lived around the campus for 25 years and it sure seems like a hell of a place to attend school. My wife works for the college (half the people in the area do). She runs the Design & Marketing Studio at the Hopkins Center.

How much snow do you guys get in an average winter?

Thanks, I was extremely happy when I was accepted, and I can't wait for school. I've actually only seen a 40 around me once. that was probably 2 years ago before i ever was interested in land cruisers.

If there's a foot of snow, they put down a foot of salt on the roads

thats unfortunate...actually i'm in the process of a paint job on my 40 because it was just spray painted and i wanted some protection against salt and the elements because it won't be garaged (the PO had a garage tall enough to fit it, i don't)

can you deflate your tires then roll it in the garage or get smaller junk rims with no tires on them to roll the truck? No idea your garage dimensions but if you have junk rims and no tires then anything should fit into any garage

Generally we get a good amount of snow, but this year it was very light, lots of slush and cold though.

Most people up here put their 40's away for the winter. They use a LOT of road salt here in New England and it eats old trucks alive.

Last summer i fit it in the garage with the top off but with only 1 inch of clearance. since then, i had more leaves added to the front so i doubt it would fit.

I'm sure if i deflated the tires it would fit but the problem is my parents have their cars in there so there's no space......

thats what i heard. i was at dartmouth a few weeks ago and there was no snow on the ground

If you want to jump ship and come to UVM.....we are more favorable to 40 series....:) Just kidding....give a shout when you arrive and if you need some Burlington area orientation....

Congrats on getting into Dartmouth. I live about a half hour east of Hanover, nice area, plenty of outdoorsy stuff to do around here. There are a few Cruiser enthusiasts and shops around the greater NH/VT area , if you ever need help with something. As far as the Cruiser goes and as everyone else has said, the road salt is nasty up here, you can go crazy with undercoating your Cruiser, but storing it for the winter is the best option.

Thanks! And good advice, good to know this now before I bring it out there and don't have any place to store it...besides jsaltlick's place.

But Dartmouth requires we stay on campus the summer after sophomore year...so maybe the spring before that to the winter after my first term my junior year I could bring it out...that makes sense. Except I'm still not sure how I would get it out there. SOA with 35" tires makes the center of gravity quite high and dangerous going highway speeds.
