I have been a bit inactive, in regards to my Land Cruiser for the past couple years, for a number of reasons. We used to live in Steamboat Springs, CO and I have been working on my FJ-40 since the fall of '01. I had it about 75-80% finished when I had to move it out of our garage due to the fact we were selling our house and planning to move. I took it to Jeremiah Proffitt to finish what I didn't (and to fix what I did finish :)). He is just about finished with my truck and will be shipping it out to me in the next couple of days. I have been a member of TLCA since 2001, and have gone to a few Cruise Moabs and a Lone Star Roundup at Katemcy. I also have a 2003 double cab Tacoma which has seen some wheeling, including Moab, Black Bear and Imogene passes and Katemcy. I have, at times, been a member/assoc. member of Lone Star Land Cruisers, Cascade Cruisers, Wasatch Cruisers and Cache La Poudre Land Cruisers (short lived club in northern CO).

My FJ-40 originally got back burnered due to the birth of my daughter in late 2003. I worked on it sporadically after that, until I had to go training for my job in the spring of 2006 (I am a Captain on the MD-11 at FedEx, based in Memphis). We moved to Southern Pines, NC about 16 months ago, where we are building a small horse farm. My truck will arrive from Delta, CO in the next week or two and its going to be time to get back into wheeling again - maybe even as soon as GSMTR (if momma approves, its also our 10th anniversary the week later).

My FJ-40 has the original 2F, in front of a rebuilt SM420. Behind the tranny is a Marlin Crawler ToyBox (#7 made), and a 4 spd FJ tcase with 3spd gears! Spring over using 2 sets of FJ55 rear springs. Front and rear ARBs, Dual batteries, dual fuel tanks and york compressor for onboard air. Scout II powersteering and 6 shooter high steer. Paki OEM replica soft top. There are a few other items, like 70 series signal lights, and a few still to add.

A quick bio:

I grew up in Va. Beach. I went to Va. Tech where I played soccer and studied Industrial Engineering. I'm still an avid Hokie football and soccer fan. I joined the Navy and went to flight training in 1985. I flew the P-3C Orion based in Jacksonville, FL and got out of the Navy in 1993. I went to work for FedEx in 1994 and have been flying the MD-11 for 11 years now. Over the last 12 years I have lived in Charlotte, NC, Memphis, TN, Manhattan, NYC, Madison, NJ, Steamboat Springs, CO and now Southern Pines, NC. I'm married, wife is Sarah, and we have 1 child, my daughter Kaleigh (she was the main picture on ih8mud's homepage when she was a few months old :)). We're 46 yr old parents almost 47) of a 4 yr old.

I'm looking forward to participating this spring and summer!

I'll have pictures of my 40 when it arrives (Jeremiah told me he might have some for me in the next couple days).

Welcome aboard!

You will find you are not alone in Upstate Cruisers. A lot of us are in the same boat with young children, demanding jobs, and spouses who run both hot and cold on the cruiser addiction.

Love the Orion P-3C: it turns around above my house near Asheville on its training run up from Pensacola - - nothing like seeing a sub-hunter fly over the Appalachians.

What are P-3s doing in P'cola? Sure its not coming up from Jax?;) During Desert Shield/Storm. I ran a few P-3s from Pax River down to Jax after getting some extra battle survival goodies. I always did low altitude routes along the mountains (passed over Va Tech in Blacksburg each time - my sis took a pic :)) for the view!

I guess it was JAX. Our airport is (AVL), which is used by the Navy for training - - touch and goes - - since the runway is long (accomodated the Concord once) and there is very little commercial use.

Occasionally, we get Marine Jets and Ospreys since our mountains somewhat resemble more hostile areas. There are a couple of those big "arrow" markers on highways near my home. I absolutely love the flyovers!

Again, welcome! You're now living in my home stomping grounds! Ah, the Sandhills.

welcome aboard from another NC guy!!! sounds like you got quite the cruiser to drool over. Cant wait to meet you and your truck soon.

Wow... nice 40!

Jeremiah is a great guy to work with. I would love one of his diesel conversion (cummins) Troopy's.

Great looking 40!

How are you handling the move from Steamboat? I moved to Asheville from GJ last year and really miss it.

Look forward to wheeling with you!

Jeremiah kinda back burnered my project as he worked on a bunch of those diesel conversions over the last 18 months. No worry for me though as I wasn't really ready to take it back yet. This timing works out well. Barry, yellow Cruiser on his site, is delivering it to me, maybe by this weekend. I just got off the phone with John at Jeremiah's and they were just cleaning it up and tying a few loose ends. It'll be on my trailer and ready to haul by the end of the day.

I miss Steamboat a bit, but mostly I miss 75+ ski days/year!:frown: (I don't miss the 7-9 hour trip from Steamboat to Memphis for work, though!) We just got home from a 3 week trip to CO - Steamboat and Snowmass! Had an awesome time! My 4 yr old (just turned in Dec) is now a level 5 skier on blues!

At 2 1/2 she was already an excellent helper too ;)
