Before anyone flames me, I did a search and read all the posts.

I want to pull the motor apart and remove the plastic toothed gear inside. I disconnected the antenna assembly and it is loose inside the fender. I already know that I need to be a contortion expert to get the thing out of the tiny hole.

However, HOW DO I DISCONNECT THE ANTENNA WIRE ITSELF? The antenna wire is the only thing preventing me from removing it from the hole. I tried reaching inside the little hole and pulling on the antenna wire, but it doesn't unplug and it isn't giving me much wire to play with.

Also, does the antenna come out with the mast side first or the motor first?

One post I read seemed to indicate that the mast stays inside and only the motor comes out?!? If so, then how do you seperate the mast from the motor?

I appreiate everyone's help. Thanks!

I don't remember taking the antenna wire off.
I do remember tieing a string to something to prevent it from falling down into the fender

You cannot disconnect the antenna lead at the antenna motor - it's hard wired in. You can only disconnect it at the radio. I was able to buy myself some slack though -- just find the antenna lead where it runs horizontally behind the glovebox. (Glove box door will open wider if you squeeze the rear sides together and slip them out of their holders.) I was able to get a few inches of slack there and pull it through to the fender. You can always disconnect it at the radio and pull it out a foot or two but you'll want to tape something on the end of it to allow you to fish it back through. It's pretty easy to fish back through as long as you don't pull the end past the rubber grommet to the right of the glovebox. It can be pulled completely out but again make sure you tape another wire to the radio end so you can fish it back through easier (takes patience and a few swear words).

EDIT: Mr T. must have thought it would be way too easy to allow you to unplug it at the antenna motor.
