I am installing a stereo in my boat. I have run the 4awg wires for the power supply. I am ready to terminate them a the battery.
I have ring terminals and a crimper. I am wondering if I will gain
anything or if it is even a good idea to heat the ends up and fill em
full of rosin core solder after the connection has been made.

I am guessing that this will reduce or illuminate corrosion at the connection.

anyone have some insight?.

It won't hurt but I don't think it will help much either. Just keep your batt terminals clean and you should be fine with just a good crimp. Auto manufactures do it that way and they last for many years.

You'll not get enough compression on a hand crimper to make a gasless joint.....absolutely solder.
