Yeah for me!!! My frickin' alternator died. The local uto parts stores can get a non toyota stock replacement for around $180. I called up a couple of the local alt shops and they said worst case senario 110-125 rebuilt. Any thoughts?

1988 FJ62 137k original alt.

i have my alt's from my 70 and 78 FJ40's.

Would be surprised if yours weren't bigger, but if not... lmk.

Also: dunno how hard a GM/Delco swap would be for the 62... but that's another reasonable option (higher output, better availability, cheaper). 'At's what i did in my '40: i got a 17-SI 120A for $45.

You'd need a CS-series one (better, newer, serpentine belt). Do a search here for CS-130, for example.

One last recommendation: check out the alternator shop in N. Versailles on Rt. 30, past the intersection w/ 48... PJ and I both got good deals there. He can also rebuild.

X2 on the alt shop in North Huntingdon
I got an alt off of a big rig for 100$
But I would not expect to get that deal again.
Good luck.

Now all I have to do is come up with a better screen name.
