I have a set of Aisin hubs that are very hard to turn. I have recently rebuilt them with new o-rings and regreased them (o-rings too) and they are still hard to turn. I used Aeroshell 17 grease as it is a thin (low viscosity) grease and I was hoping it would allow easy turning in cold weather. Also, I could not find where Aisin or Toyota had a recommended grease type.

Anyone have any ideas?

Normal. After rebuilding, mine are hard to turn too.

like almost barely turnable by hand when cold. I recovered someone this afternoon and they were definitely easier to do after the truck was driven with them unlocked for 30 minutes.

Hi, How hard? Mike

So after rebuilding, they are hard to turn. But not impossible. They feel like they should to me, with resistance but not impossibility.

If that is normal, ok, I guess. Seems to me that you'd never want to have to use a tool, and I get tempted to do that once in a while...

The outer o-ring is usually the culprit. If the old one is good, swap it in and see how they turn.

Both were changed when they were rebuilt.
