I was gonna rent an Airless sprayer from Home Despot, but any recommendations for a $300 or so unit that can handle light use for general home duty ?

Graco all the way

Find a used graco airless, with the contruction ecomomy the way it is shouldn't be a problem to grab one off craigslist if your in a some what larger city, My nova series was 450 used ten years ago, i think the gtx is the newer nova model. I am a carpenter so I don't use it as often as a painter but coulple thousand gallons later it's still sprayin good. stay away from wagner if your a tool snob you won't be happy down the road. Last but not least keep it clean and the packings oiled. Oh and mixing laquer and latex don't jive:doh:

Thanks for the rec - will scour CL ...

test test test

check this one out. find one closer to you and make sure you test how good it pumps. Iv'e had the packings redone once because of miss use:doh:. turns out you can't leave latex in them for a month in a hot garage. who would of thought:lol: A good way to test is is look up the factory output numbers for the pump, mine is 1/3 of a gallon per min and do just that set the pump at max output run some material through the primeing tube and time if it's close it gives you a good judgement call Graco Ultra 395 Electric Airless Sprayer (use)

Local Craig's has that same model Spraytech for $250 ... May go take a look at it. Everything thing else is Wagner of too much $$ for abused tools...

Titan 440i. Small portable, but has the output as the larger units.

With Charles on this...just found a brand new Titan 300 HVLP with a tip kit for $300....I paid $1200 back in early 90's for the same unit.

It'll paint anything like a pro, with a slight learning curve, mostly just getting the material, air, product flow, and pattern down.

Have a Graco at work, and love it also. Bought it new out of Florida..and just a bit more adjustment than the Titan

titan bang for buck

I always forget how economical titan pumps are right out of the box. Thats a good price for a quality pump Thats brand new. For a home owner view point and use thats a good one. A Graco will last a pro for years so a titan will do the same for a home owner. long term storage use diesel fuel if your in a cold enviroment with outside storage, also keeps the seals nice.

Thanks for the recommendations, guys - I couldn't find anything local on Craig's that wasn't beat-to-death junk, so I ended up doing a 4 hr rental from Home Despot for the patio and cover ... I'd forgotten how fast and easy it is to use an airless.

But I'm going to keep an eye on Craig's for the above mentioned models, I've still got the rest of the house to do within the next year or so. And an airless is a nice thing to have around... Redgrrr, thanks for the tips on maintenance, using diesel !

I'm pretty sure that is for like house painting or big job, spray jobs.....I think it's designed to fit a 5 gallon bucket of paint.

The older Titan HVLP's will do any finish (car, cabinet, latex, but only has a quart cup) and with a tip kit are extremely versatile.

If you you find a 300/400 and it doesn't have a tip kit, I have two, and would let go of one very reasonably.

Picked up a little unit from Home depot for about 300, works like a charm.

I have used the Gracos and other top brands, these little units work just as well but not built for dailey use, more like weekend project use...

He said it.

You don't want to throw down the grip for a Graco, unless you plan on using it every week or two on a house.
