Air Bags

ok this may be a stupid question, but my buddy was out wheeling and slid down a hill and hit a pretty big rock, which made his air bags deploy. Is there any way to disable the FJ's air bags while offroading or are you stuck with them on all the time?

the air bags do have a reduced sensitivity compared to strictly on-highway vehicles. I think it's 30 or 40 kmph. I've hit some pretty substantial obstacles without the airbags going off. If they went off on your buddy, they probably saved his ass.

I think the trigger speed is higher than that, closer to 45 or 50 MPH. Yeah, I think that air bag deploying saved his butt.
