So I came across a 60 for sale near me. The body looks amazing (could be a good bondo job), but the frame is total swiss cheese so this thing will never see the road again. Don't know the year. Are there any parts on this thing that would be useful for my 40 (discs, etc.)? Also, anybody need any 60 parts? The guy is asking way too much but I might be able to talk him down and I'd hate to see it go to China without somebody getting some parts off it first.

You could make a few grand in parts if you split it between and ebay, most likely. You could also swap frames and sell it complete. You could bring it a fab shop who will repair the frame. You say it is junk, but I have seen frames remade from the front cab mounts back.

Depends on what "asking too much" means. How much?

The guy has $1K on the window, which to me seems outrageous. Your right, the frame could maybe be saved but it would take a ton of work. The springs and even the axles have some serious rust, to the point where it might even impact strength of the housings. It's really weird though, the body looks immaculate. Almost like the thing was driven at the beach, the body washed off, and then parked in a field for 10 years. I'm going to take another look.

drop the tailgate and look in at the mounts and seams. If you can pull an interior access panel in the rear, do that as well. I was looking at an old runner on cape when I lived there, looked cherry, pulled on inner access panel and it was FILLED with spray expanding foam, then beutifully puttied over. Check the inside of the rockers as well.

1K is way to much for a parts truck, IMO.

$500 maybe. How many miles?

Thanks for the line Spud. I didn't know the 60's had 3.73s that being the case I'll probably let it go. I'm sure the guy can be talked down if anybody is looking for some 60 parts. The interior is immaculate and I believe the odo read around 130K.
