My 2 year male cheasapeake bay retriever, has escaped his hurricane fence/ concrete kennel twice. Both times captured by animal control. He rams the door until it stretches, andthen squeezes under.

The county says after two times , they can ,and will cut his balls off! (OBVIOUSLY RAN BY A WOMAN)
His semen is worth saving because of the lineage. Champion bloodlines. Besides , he's a great duck retriever. I think it will affect his drive to retrieve.

I've got until monday morning to save his manhood.

H8MUDDERS.........WHAT ARE OUR OPTIONS?

Do the right thing and contain your dog. If the Animal Control unit is offering a free neuter then take it.

Agreed,
Contain your dog! Neutering him will more than likely extend his life.

I have never read, or heard anything that would make me believe he will become less of a hunting dog if he has been neutered.

I have some top notch dogs and their balls are gone. If you are not running a breeding program, you should have your dog spayed/neutered......Period!

I almost typed "secure your dog" until I re-read the post.

He already F'up by not doing something to the kennel after the first time it happened.

I think he is seeking legal advice on his options in the 23rd hour.

Methinks you might be projecting your own sense of manhood on your dog and his balls.

If you're really worried get a lawyer.

Who has your dog? Do you have it, or is in the custody of animal control? I cannot tell from your post.

If it's the former, then secure your dog and keep him from running away. Leave him in the house if necessary. And if the local folks want to come and neuter him because he has escaped twice, tell them to fxxx off.

If it's the latter, go to the shelter and get your dog. If they will not give him to you, then you have to make a decision. If it is crucial that the dog not be neutered, hire a lawyer to intervene. There are mechanisms for stopping irreversible harm before it occurs. You should know that action of this kind will be extremely expensive (I have filed and argued an emergency temporary restraining order and it takes more than one person a good deal of time. Figure at least ten hours at whatever your going rate is just to get you to the courthouse steps. Then it really starts to add up from there.).

All I can tell you, without looking at the statutes which gives these people the power they allege that they have, is that you need to maintain control over your property. Especially if it is not neutered.

when i picked up my Blue Heeler from the shelter (how a blue heeler got there is beyond me) they said i must get her fixed. I said no not till the first litter is born. They was real cool about it and gave myself the time to let her produce her first litter:cool:.

I did my homework prior to the 6 weeks to find a home for them, nevertheless I had all homes before they left. And on a postive note I was able to GIVE AWAY a bunch of Blue Heelers rather than charge;) and the mamma is one calm mutt now because i let her have a litter of pups.

Is this happening under Illinois' Anna's Law (Public Act 94-0639)

Link to pdf of Illinois legislation at bottom of ASPCA page here

Jesus, they're not fxxxing around:

"Requires owners of dogs found at large a second or subsequent time to be spayed or neutered."

That is some serious legislation.

oh shut up.........didn't you read what the man said.........his seman is worth saving due to his bloodlines. Just because he isn't a breeder doesn't mean he shouldn't have the option of having a litter of pups a 5 years down the road so that he can have another one once his current dogs passes on.

The USA is becoming stupid on the spay/neuter laws. If you take care of the pups you have if you have some then who cares. Stinking liberals

If you ARE running a breeding program.....STOP.

Plenty of cool dogs need homes already. Go to a shelter and take home a couple.

So what you are saying. Everyone should stop breeding dogs to buy the strays? The adoption agencies that "Save" animals are crazy. I was looking for a full blooded mastiff to raise from a puppy. I have found full blooded papered pups for $600. These were pups that could have bred later down the lines and not polluted the gene pool with imbreeding etc. Or I could have went to the local adoption house that had full blooded Mastiff that were fixed, weren't good around other dogs, children, other people, and were not house broken(but too old to break in a short amount of time)............these dogs cost around $200 unless they had a medical problem then you had to pay back the "foster home" for the medical expenses.......hogwash.

I found a nice family of Neopalitan Mastiffs that had been rescued from a puppy mill. They had a whole litter of puppies as well as 3-4 adults. I think they were adopting them out for $200 and I was going to "save" one of these pups. They wouldn't let me have one because they said my ideal living conditions were not to that of a Mastiff(mastiffs like to lay around and do nothing but eat, sleep, and crap. Heck thats what I like to do and my apartment was well suited for that.

If it wasn't so hard to adopt a pet from foster care I wouldn't care so much but since you have to jump through hoops to "save" a poor-homeless-familyneeding dog it is just easier to buy a papered full blooded dog from a breeder for a few dollars more..........most breeders don't require an in home visit and a fenced in yard.

Huh?

Never been called a liberal in my whole life before, until today. I lean so far Right I'll probably fall off of the edge someday.:D

How is the USA becoming stupid on the spay/neuter laws?

It doesn't sound to me like he is quite taking care of the pups he has.
