And the Kodachrome spot. The Cripple Creek Inn is now a parking lot, and the grassy lot, graced by a donkey in the old photo, is now a park. The donkeys still roam the town though.

So, this pic must have been taken in late 1973 at the earliest, since the spare tire on a 40 didn’t move to the driver’s side until the 1974 models I’m fairly certain. Both of those rigs appear to have ds spares.
 
that picture is just awesome, and the fact that you got your rig in the retake from the same spot is epic for sure...
probably do some digging on the other cars in the original to get a closer time frame. my sept 73 truck has a pass. side spare, but a locking gas door. study case for a 73 swing truck. I didn't even think about the spare tire position, great catch...
 
Amazing thread. It’s nice to see mixed in pics of scenery and family. I hope to make the same ones with my newly acquired 77 although my climate is slightly different down here in the FL panhandle!
