Yeah man, the summers here are wonderful. There’s really nothing like driving a 40 through the mountains. Great to be back.Cruiser driving... BBQ... forest roads... seems the move back to CO is treating you just fine.
Colorado is much more friendly to leisurely Land Cruiser driving this time of year. I took mine out yesterday, actually drove it to work just cause I wanted to drive it... and fried, even with the AC running.
Thanks. Yes, 100% original down to the paint. No rust either, which is certainly rare these days.Very nice looking ‘76. Completely original? Sure looks unmolested and intact.
This one is a May 1976.What’s the build month? Mines 11/75

That night, I dropped it off at a friend's house in Scottsdale and flew back to Denver, anxiously awaiting the shipper to pick it up. Two days later, my auto shipper called me and said that he couldn't get it to start. Made no sense to me at all. This thing ran perfectly before. Anyway, he gave up and left, so I had to wait two more weeks for another shipper who could haul a non-running vehicle. Found out later that shipper #1 had pulled the choke so hard that it bent part of the carburetor linkage.
In the meantime, my buddy Rick, had a good time trying to diagnose the issue as the 40 waited for a shipper #2. Rick was a CJ-7 guy and got a kick out of pointing out a non-running FJ40 in his driveway.

It was finally loaded up and headed north.

Yeah, my guess is that he was the cheapest guy that the original shipper could sub the job to after pulling the choke so hard that it bent my carburetor linkage and wouldn’t start. Luckily, it made it.great looking 40.
That transporter towing all that with a SRW truck is super sketch. I'd make sure to never use them again.
