At least once a week this time of year, I pick my boy up at school in the ‘76 with our beloved old mut, Tilly. Today she was particularly chill while we waited in the parking lot. The 40 is running perfectly and life is good.

My daughter and I had a busy afternoon. I helped a friend winterize his boat engine in Woodland Park while she stayed inside and baked cookies with her buddies.
She drifted to sleep as we headed west on Highway 24 and got closer to the house. Today was very chilly, but it was sure nice to be cozied up in the 40 with the heater going. We had this perfect vintage cocoon of warmth driving through the woods home.

Yeah man. We sure need it.
I’m out and about today and just saw this guy and his dog cruising in a clean ‘79. Chased him down and talked for a bit. Cool guy who lives here in town.

If not, there is another really clean 40 floating around up here.
Sadly, the spare OEM brake master cylinder did not last. There was some sort of leak between the two chambers that caused the rear reservoir to drain and overflow into the front, eventually spilling out.My brake master cylinder has been leaking (was aftermarket and very old), so I bolted on an OEM one from my stash. Bought it lightly used on eBay back in 2012 as a spare.
I was curious if these ever go “bad” from sitting dry, but I guess not. My son and I used it as an opportunity to bleed the brakes as well. It’s the third time he’s successfully bled brakes on an FJ40 now, so he’s getting to be a young expert.
She’s back in business.

It’s legit.Funny as I discovered the Advics connection a few months ago as well when I replaced the MC on my ‘3/76 40.
