I’m not sure where to post this, but I’m trying to get a few guys together to go with us JOCCI members (Jeep Outdoor Club of Central Iowa) to northern Minnesota in the spring. I’m not sure on the date, but I would assume it would be in May. It would be a Tuesday night to Sunday night sort of deal. The longer the better in my opinion, but it would depend on the members time off. I will stay there for a decade if need be.

The trip (preliminary) would include a couple of days at the Iron Range near Gilbert, and a few days in the Ely area doing some backwoods camping in the north woods wilderness and/or the boundary waters canoe area.

Pack your $h!t!

Thanks for the invitation

Sounds like fun! I participated in the run at "the Farm" last fall and had a great time. It is fun to wheel with a different make of truck. I don't camp, so don't know if I would do this run. I think the area is great for wheeling. I am registered to go to Cruse Moab the first week in May, for the 4th year and am looking forward to that event..

There are motels in that area.... I've seen them.. :)

I assume that a couple/few of days would be spent at Iron Range. There’s anything from mild to wild there, all while having a little taste of “north woods” scenery. I’m one of those “outdoors nature” types, so after a couple of days of wheeling that close to Ely and the Boundary Waters, I’m going to need some play time up there. It’s a long ways off, and I have no clue how many people are interested in the Iron Range or the Outdoors/Camping aspect of the trip. Both can be combined to provide fun for everyone. All I know is that I need at least one nice day in a canoe, with a cold sixer, and a few dead walleye…..

Subscribed! I'll keep my eye on this. Considering...

I've been up to the Boundary Waters several times over the last 10 years, so if you have any questions about the area or gear/trips, let me know, our little crew has it down to a science.

Thanks man. When I was younger, my family used to go up there for a few weeks every summer. I went up there the last two years and couldn’t believe how much had changed!

No dice on the trip. More of my rig is still in boxes or on the floor than bolted/welded to it. NEXT YEAR!
