So I tried this witches brew of lemon scented goodness on my precious 96 leather rear seat. After not even the slightest bit of pressure and some nice swirling wax on wax off type of back and forth I present the dramatic results below. It was shown on the intraweb used with a toothbrush. Well that's not gonna happen so I got a hand and nail brush just right for this. Got everything at Walmart. :)

But is it OK for the leather?

Whatever you use should be pH neutral right?

I have no clue. It doesn't have bleach in it. Otherwise it's 17 year old leather so what the heck do I care. I'll just put covers on if it's a fail.

If it works it works. Impressive results!

Okay after I soft scrubbed it I used a very damp cloth to get any leftover residue off the leather. I then picked up blue majic leather cream conditioner. It was the only one without harsh chemicals. It has to be rubbed in and sit on the leather for 30 min to soak into the hide. Here's how it came out...

After soft scrub and before leather conditioner.

And the after....

Lexol in the brown bottle. AWESOME!

Contrary to the name, Soft Scrub contains a lot of abrasives like calcium carbonate that are not good for the stitching. It gets embedded into threads and destroys them. It will also remove the natural oils of the leather.

It's the least I can do for a fellow mudder. Clean is good......right

After 17 years I am pretty sure there are zero oils left in the leather if you have not conditioned and cleaned before. Honestly I think it looked better after just soft scrub but non the less looks great

On my boat, I've used Oxyclean and even comet with really good results. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I have had amazing luck with full strength Simple Green on my tan leather interior which was absolutely filthy when I got it. I have been using Meguier's leather cleaner/conditioner after wiping it down with Simple Green. The results have been nothing short of amazing.

isn't soft scrub basically Comet mixed with water?

While the actual material for part of the seat is leather I don't think you need to worry about removing oils. The leather is coated with a surface treatment which is essentially like a painted surface for lack of a better term. It is not the same type of thing you see on say a leather duffel where you can scratch the surface and then add a high quality oil and restore the luster and color.

I think the flatulent area of the seats have been removed with natural methane by now.. :P
