So we don't know if OME makes the correct shock with correct valving?
Pretty sure you're asking this rhetorically, but;

I think it's fairly well known that the OME 'kit' offered is pieced together from other kits including a 70 series, So no, the valving would not be specific to a 55.

Dobinsons makes a kit specifically for the 55, so presumably those shocks are valved accordingly.

Can't see that Terrain Tamer makes a specific 55 kit as their website is a bit all over the place.

Yes I knew that, I also believe the "yellow" shocks are valved intentionally stiff..
My pig rode like a hay wagon with my OME shocks compared to my king shocks.. Probably why the bilsteins 255/70 are so popular with their advertised softer/medium valving.
So when someone says valved "correctly" for your FJ55 I was curious if they could explain to me what that was and/or if the company that they were quoting had any information.🤷🏻‍♂️

Form Dobinson's site talking about the twin tube shocks they supply with their FJ55 kit... Sounds like they also intentionally valve their shocks stiffer/firmer.
"Where possible Dobinsons design each part number to provide a longer shock absorber for more wheel travel, firmer valving for a more controlled ride and a larger body with increased oil capacity for cooler operation than the original vehicle shock absorbers."

I think all OME shocks are valved too stiff,
Agree, the bulk of the "off road" shocks are valved incredibly stiff and unpleasant to drive on any surface. Not sure the target audience but they all seem to do it and charge 4x for a crappy shock with bright paint and a cool sticker!
Edit to add they also have a cool stretchy rubber boots in cool matching colors!

No updates from my side. Another, very different project has been taking up my time. Nice to have multiple projects going at once so you can refresh yourself at times. I will say though that Kelly has just about gotten to the bottom of my pig. If you haven't taken a look lately, post 191 and 192 would be a great place to quickly catch up on his activities with the body.

After quite a bit of hit and miss, I finally lucked up and got a decent, year correct, matched manifold set. We sent them to Jet-Hot and had them ceramic coated with their 1300 line. The exhaust manifold is coated in cast iron and the intake manifold in satin silver. Cam finally unboxed them and sent some photos yesterday.

Looks good, what is the 1300 line?
A ceramic coating good up to 1250 F (guess they rounded up to 1300) which apparently is good enough for most headers, exhaust systems, etc. Their literature claims a reduction of ambient temperatures around the coated parts of 65%. While that’s nice, I was more interested in the parts not corroding over time.

Nice!! Jet Hot did my vintage Man-a-Fre header a few years ago. Looks good and must help with the heat some.

If any of you guys have the correct exhaust manifold heat shields laying around, please reach out. I have a parts wanted post but thought someone in here might have some.

No way, that is YOUR body?!?

That thread is mind boggling...

I need to catch up in both threads.
