hello i am away from home and will be for a little while and my brother was suppose to start my lx (even use it if he wants) once a week to keep the battery up well he tells me now its dead and he wasn't starting it for 3 weeks now! I wont be back for a least 4 more weeks any real damage that can happen? I dont mind getting a new battery when i get back. Does gasoline go bad? by the way its super cold at my home now 0 to 15 most days

Gasoline can go stale, but not over just a few months. I think that the battery going dead in just three weeks indicates a problem with it. The battery won't be further hurt by sitting 4 more weeks.

thanks i was a bit worried but now i am not the truck is in a garage so it is safe; the funny thing is i am going to have a tuff time pushing it out so i can get to the battery. I cant opne the hood in the garage because of cabinets inside. lol

If you can get the hood up just a bit (a foot?) you should be able to attach charger cables to the battery. I would have my brother go buy a cheap ($30) charger and hook it up so the truck is ready to go when I got home.

If you plan on storing the truck much, I would consider a onboard battery maintainer. I installed one on my Suburban that doesn't get driven much and it has really helped.

Schumacher Battery Charger/Maintainer - I used this one on my Suburban's dual battery system and it works great. I just plug it in when I know I won't be driving it for a while.

Three weeks shouldn't kill a battery that's healthy. Probably time for a fresh one.
