99 LC and 98 LX Head Units - Anyone need one?

Hey all,

I just posted two head units for sale for $5. I would rather give to someone here than have to pack and ship. Let me know if anyone wants one or both. I already have a guy that wants both, but I would need to ship

SOLD - '99 LC and '98 LX Head Units

Anyone need a LC or LX head unit for the 99 and 98 MYs? I just pulled these out and they worked for radio. Did not try for tape or CD/Changer. $5 each plus you play shipping. Just want them to be used if anyone needs them.

Only $5? I remember ripping the double DIN stereo head unit out of my '95 80 about 10 years ago and someone bought it on eBay for about $100...

Yeah, I could probably ask for more, but I really just want them out. Not enough storage and if someone needs it more than I do, then it's all good in my book.

I will take the Lexus one if its better than the Toyota one?
if its plug n play, or the Toyota one because mine is a little scratchy.

unfortunately they have two different plugs and two different whole systems. The Lexus one has a really funky external amp. The Toyota one would be plug and play but I really don't know if it's that much better. I think if you're going to go to the trouble of taking it out it might be time to upgrade. I have these because I'm putting in two Sony Bluetooth head units that are Android auto compatible.

I replaced mine with this:

Sony XAV-AX5000

Digital multimedia receiver (does not play CDs)

I got it for less than $300 though and it is great... Bluetooth and seamless install... I got two with the sale to put one in the lexus, but of course that is taking more work due to a funky amplifier setup that is not compatible with modern head units.

I am looking at options for that this week... Fun.

As I have a similar(1998) LC, I would be interested in the decision making on your choice for the switch out for the Sony heads. Lots of info on multiple strings for different options such as tesla style(but with start up issues and some glitches) your Sony choice and others like the pioneer option. I want to add front and rear cameras along with the upgrade. Perhaps it may be best to catch you at the next club meeting, when that option opens up again.

For the LC the Sony was a super easy install... I am an Android guy so that was one factor. Also, I mostly listen to podcasts or streaming apps on my phone so I didn't need a lot of video options... This head until can handle one camera input though I may install a switch to toggle a front camera when needed... Just a few thoughts. Let me know if you really to discuss further...
