Hi there,

I'm having some trouble with my 96 Pathfinder (VG33E engine). For the last few weeks it has been starting only intermittently. The starter cranks, but the engine wouldn't catch. It seemed to start better if I blipped the gas pedal, so I put in a bottle of fuel system cleaner (good idea, bad idea, dunno). That was two days ago. Today, it started fine in the morning, started again 6hrs later, and now won't start period. The starter cranks, and I can hear the fuel pump priming, the fuel filter was new last fall, and the air filter is recent (and clean).

Once the engine started, it would run fine. No stalling, sputtering, hestitation etc. Any ideas as to what to look into?
Thanks

if you have a scanner the first thing to do is pull codes. there might be a manual way to do this without a scanner. have you got it running yet?

Friend of mine has similar issues....he took it in and the dealer found that a Squirrel had decided his particular wiring harness was the Special of the Month.

Since then...many a squirrel has been sacrificed to appease the wiring harness gods! :D

Take it by Auto Zone or Advanced Auto if you can...they should be able to pull the codes for free...

Check and see if you have spark. Those things would loose the crank angel sensor (distributor) all the time.
