My left front (driver side) ABS sensor is acting up...it pulsates for a short while under braking. I rebuilt the caliper; but, it continues to pulsate. Perhaps the sensors?, or...what if I disconnect the ABS completely. I can live with out ABS, or should I?

Thanks,

Thanks!

My 93 had the same problem, I ended up pulling the fuse under the hood. Not an elegant solution but it solved it.

I also do not run ABS. Just pull the yellow fuse in the engine compartment.

I actually like my truck without ABS....lots of naysayers on this and possible insurance repercussions if you get in an accident and the insurance finds out your ABS was INOP.

Cheers.

I run without ABS also. I will likely fix the system, but the truck brakes fine (or at least as well as it used to) for my tastes, so it is not a priority.

You can pull the code from the ABS system to see where it thinks the problem is, I would guess the sensor. I also had my right front sensor go out. Search there is a lot of info on how to clean them, that might solve you problems. It didn't mine, so I just pulled the ABS light from the dash, after driving with it on for a year. Does pulling the fuse under the hood still result in the idiot ABS light on?

I perfer the way the truck stops without abs...but fully understand what you are doing. I have also tried on several occations to get the brakes to lock and only have once on wet roads...and I had to mash the brake harder than I would ever while "threshold brakeing".

Unfortunately, yes.

Ahhh makes me feel better!! Of course the ABS light wasn't the only one I was going after. I fixed the "D" and after I put it back together 2 more had burn out from all the movement.

no abs light

to disconnect the abs system without getting a light on the dash, remove the drivers side kick panel and unplug the abs computer. P/O did this to my truck to cover up a bad sensor and I didn't know about it until I locked up the brakes on ice and the abs didn't work.

That's crap. I would have had a serious problem with someone who did that. That goes way beyond "buyer beware."

I hope you or the cruiser weren't hurt.
