My initial impressions of the 4x4, M/T FJ Cruiser. I have about 900 miles on the truck and have done some mild off-roading with it. I like the amount of articulation that wheels have and the power/tork is more than enough for the type of off-roading I’m presently doing. The ride is much softer than I’m accustom too with off road vehicles. I believe a 3” lift kit will stiffen up the suspension and I’ll add tires with tread that is more aggressive and this will me the start for off-road mods. Overall I’m happy with performance of the FJ.:beer:
What I don’t like about it is the possibility of inner fender well aprons bulging, cracking, like it has done on the 2007’s and 2008 FJ’s and having to be replaced by Toyota. Hoping if this surfaces it is before the original 36,000 mile factory warranty expires. :crybaby:

Actually, you want a flexier suspension for an offroad vehicle. If you are used to something more firm, it is probably a truck designed for a load. Better flex = better response and articulation offroad - stiffer = more load capacity and (generally) better handling ON road, like your Z-51. Be careful in selecting your lift so as not to make the vehicle ride to firm, or you may find you have the unpleasant suprise of bouncing off of obstacles on approach or departure - including speed bumps. Select the suspension for your anticipated normal loading condition or cough up the $ for an adjustable ride suspension. JMHO...
