Hi ,
I have a 80 series 1hz 1995 model manual and upon servicing the gearbox i found It impossible to check the oil level. after some time i took a photo that proves its block by something internal that is stuck solid. I cant put any thin wire in or budge the metal that seals the filler hole. Car is running fine.

Check out the photos
Any help would be great.

Thanks

Mick

Need a picture from further back.

Will almost guarantee you have removed the wrong plug.

Fill plug is on the left side, just forward of the steel plate and maybe 3" up.

May not apply at all and wouldn't try it without someone verifying it will work but on my other Toyota I didn't want to bother pumping gear oil up in to the manual gear box (r150f) so I just put it in from the top as I was putting in a new gasket for the shifter plate anyway. you might be able to do the same but you will want to make sure it is completely empty and that you know the factory capacity to only add the exact amount needed.

I just went and looked at my H151 in the garage (not on the vehicle). The plug he pulled is the one I circled in green. It does appear blocked off, but the side towards the rear is open.

Try shifting the trans into 1st or reverse and see if your hole opens up. I think you have the wrong plug pulled to check the fluid level. The one you removed might be for a switch

Ive not torn one apart, but im almost willing to bet if your started shifting through the gears looking at the plug that a roll pin would appear to be removed.
