I recently purchased a 76 FJ40. I have had a 94 80 and currently have an 06 100 as my daily driver.

I'm a long time VW enthusiast. I sold a 66 13 window deluxe to fund the purchase of the FJ. I purchased a 2.5" lift kit from Redline Landcruisers and am planning on putting the Kenda Klever MT2 33X9.5's on it. I'm going to get the wheels powdercoated as well. So far I put in a bluetooth sound system. Small sub and amp below driver seat and 2 6X9's in boxes behind the driver seat. More to come.

I've got a set of Kendas on my 40 and just got another set for my FJ Cruiser. Love em!

Looks like you live (or work) downtown?

I finally got the lift kit on and wheels powdercoated with new shoes. My son helped me with the lift kit installation. I got the 2.5" lift from Redline Landcruisers in Colorado Springs. Super nice and helpful. I picked it up in person with my 06 100. They were even available for questions when I was installing it. I decided to have the wheels powdercoated at Colorwerks in Centennial. They installed the tires as well. Super happy with how everything came out. New exhaust is next.

Very nice 40!

I, too, am a refugee from the world of air cooled VWs, having owned a variety of buses and a type 3. I just sold my '80 Vanagon, and to my muted surprise felt no regret. Don't think I'll ever go back: Land Cruisers are where it's at, man.

40 looks great.
My 10 year old daughter wants a classic beetle to work on with me.

One of the cars I had in high school was a ‘73 super beetle as well as my ‘75 FJ40.

Both were absolute piles of trash but served me very well.

I may hit you up for some advice as I move closer to getting a project beetle.

Nice 40! I recently put 33” Kendas on powder coated rims, I really like the setup. I’m amazed at how well they hold air. Speaking of air, we had a 1973 bus, restored to showroom new condition. That one went to the Mecum auction. What a pain in the ass.

My 76 VW bus was the same color combo except for the white grill. It was my 1st car and offroad vehicle. It was pretty new when I got it. I sold it when I bought my 40. It was a fun ride.
