My dumb ass thought that the reflection of snow on that pristine paint was a huge paint peel 10 inches wide like the paint peeled off.
I don’t think 2.0 can hit warp speed

I made custom lighter jackets and ferro rods for all my UPS, FedX and USPS and even the DHL guy. Help to insure delivery out her in the out back
Chocolate donut+chocolate UPS truck+ chocolate 40= perfect trifecta. A vortex is opening!Smart man… I’ve been known to throw a bakers dozen at an irritated gatekeeper. The triple chocolate has a pacifying effect.
Sorry for a negative comment, but with this kind of perfect resto you are doing , the ccot rear pannel is not acceptable , a 40 factory tailgate or door is a big part of the look we like so much![]()
I think you should get rid of the stock aqualu hinges and install some stock fj40 hinges. I have a hard time seeing those aqualu hinges matching the rest of your 40. I could be wrong though.Banner evening at the homestead…Aq rear doors made it south of the border. Some assembly required.

If you add rubber stops to the edge of your sil you might be able to get rid of that gate pin on the bottom and only need the latch on top to open and close them.
I would be happy to donate some barn door hinges to see that happen, If you decide to go that route. And I could use those bulky ones for one of my projects.I thought the exact same thing last night when I opened the box. They’re just not quite right.![]()
I'm watching how this goes.I would be happy to donate some barn door hinges to see that happen, If you decide to go that route. And I could use those bulky ones for one of my projects.
Which is to say, I totally agree with @White Stripe about ditching those fatass, eyesore hinges, regardless. @Jdc1 has done the absolute best job I have ever seen to make an Aqualu look stock. So those hinges are a huge step backwards for your rig, and for his work.
Thanks, Mark. Total team effort to make @Chungas Revenge vision come to fruition.I would be happy to donate some barn door hinges to see that happen, If you decide to go that route. And I could use those bulky ones for one of my projects.

Well put. Thanks, Mark. Total team effort to make @Chungas Revenge vision come to fruition.
The only issue with stock hinges is the slop in their stock form. Usually require a fair amount of work to tighten up. Definitely look nicer.
When we did our ‘72 build, a new pair of OEM hood hinges from the mother land didn’t pass QC and we ended up sweetening up a set of 50yo hinges.Well put.The key is managing customers’ expectations. I agree that the stock hinges would take some work. Of all the hinges on the 40 series, they have always struck me as the loosest. Even the two piece early hood hinges were better when new.
