My dumb ass thought that the reflection of snow on that pristine paint was a huge paint peel 10 inches wide like the paint peeled off.

I don’t think 2.0 can hit warp speed 😎. Yet….

I think he did it on purpose!😛

It’s true I have been guilty , on more than one occasion, of pulling a ruse, a leg or even a misdirection. The racing stripe in this case, was just a “reflection” of my inability to pose 2.0.

Brown Santa?

My old UPS driver was well versed in the art of subterfuge, misdirection and deception. He has since retired and now residing in some palatial villa in Costa Rica. The new driver is a woman of sorts with a constant scowl, a crew cut and a demeanor to match the nose ring. She (?) rolled up today gave me a surly look, rooted around the back of the truck for five minutes before exiting the side door with an arm load of packages.

“That your jeep” She asked jerking a sausage size thumb toward the idling 2.0.

Before answering I took notice of her 6lb nose ring, size 14 work boot and vibrant pink unicorn tattoo peeking out from her brown turtleneck. These are the moments where the time space inter-dimensional brain coefficient slows down to a crawl. Locked in one of those Rubiks cube never ending “what if” scenario’s, I went through a thousand cause and effect outcomes.

Running the full gamete of my finely honed lectures, essays and manifestos reserved for the unwashed philistines of the vehicular world, I replied: “Yep, sure is”.

“ I never much liked jeeps” she said wrinkling her slopping forehead and tucking her chin in against her neck. “I drive a Subaru. All the girls on my rugby team drive Subarus. You like Subarus? Ever watch Women’s Rubgy.

“One of my favs and I never miss a good scrum”. I said putting on my best Kodak grin.

Gauging I must be just another confused, semi incontinent boomer sporting plaid PJ’s and a rakish mustache, she eyed me up and down one last time like she was trying to figure out what size gimp suit she could stuff me into.

Smacking her tongue off the roof of her mouth, she abruptly turned and walked away. “Gotta run, they keep us on the clock” she said jumping to the top step of delivery truck.

“Alrighty, you take care and thanks again ma’a, err ah si, ah ahh UPS delivery person” I said waiving as she rounded the driveway.

Im’a call that a win…Think I’ll grab an Ensure and watch season seven of Archer.

I made custom lighter jackets and ferro rods for all my UPS, FedX and USPS and even the DHL guy. Help to insure delivery out her in the out back

Smart man… I’ve been known to throw a bakers dozen at an irritated gatekeeper. The triple chocolate has a pacifying effect.

Chocolate donut+chocolate UPS truck+ chocolate 40= perfect trifecta. A vortex is opening!

Sorry for a negative comment, but with this kind of perfect resto you are doing , the ccot rear pannel is not acceptable , a 40 factory tailgate or door is a big part of the look we like so much 😏

Aqualu barn door style doors on order and arriving soon. Picked up a TROA ambi door soft top/bows. 👍🏻

CCOT temp fix is now one for the ages…

Banner evening at the homestead…Aq rear doors made it south of the border. Some assembly required.

I thought the exact same thing last night when I opened the box. They’re just not quite right. 🤔

I think you should get rid of the stock aqualu hinges and install some stock fj40 hinges. I have a hard time seeing those aqualu hinges matching the rest of your 40. I could be wrong though.

If you add rubber stops to the edge of your sil you might be able to get rid of that gate pin on the bottom and only need the latch on top to open and close them.

Working through the hinges and gate pin. I think we can mod to accept stock ambi door hinges. Tub is already set up for that config. Just a matter of adapting the lower door(s). Soft top is a TROA w/the ambi door option. The soft rear doors have a latch. Want to see how this works out ref: removing the gate pin. Latch on the aluminum doors and a latch on the soft top ambi door frames..🤔

I would be happy to donate some barn door hinges to see that happen, If you decide to go that route. And I could use those bulky ones for one of my projects.

Which is to say, I totally agree with @White Stripe about ditching those fatass, eyesore hinges, regardless. @Jdc1 has done the absolute best job I have ever seen to make an Aqualu look stock. So those hinges are a huge step backwards for your rig, and for his work.

I'm watching how this goes.

I got my Aqualu's painted - and will be doing more prep to install when I start taking top and ambu doors off and tackle all the rust.

Thanks, Mark. Total team effort to make @Chungas Revenge vision come to fruition.

The only issue with stock hinges is the slop in their stock form. Usually require a fair amount of work to tighten up. Definitely look nicer.

Well put.😊 The key is managing customers’ expectations. I agree that the stock hinges would take some work. Of all the hinges on the 40 series, they have always struck me as the loosest. Even the two piece early hood hinges were better when new.

When we did our ‘72 build, a new pair of OEM hood hinges from the mother land didn’t pass QC and we ended up sweetening up a set of 50yo hinges.
