Enjoying low water while my daughter visits. Training her 1yr old Golden Retriever how to ride on an SUP. She learned to not jump off in the rapids and she is much more comfortable just swimming around.

Got an early start and took my old Canoe (brand unknown) as well as my brother's Sunfish over to an island on the Ohio River above Maysville, KY for a weekend camping trip with our dogs. We got a little rain but had a great time!

love that sunset shot. hope to be seeing something akin to that in 31/2 weeks.
it's always good to get out n recharge over a weekend of relaxing with family n friends isn't it?

Here’s the canoe we bought last year. 1970s Klickitat fiberglass thing made in Oregon. It’s got great lines - I love how the gunwhale comes up to a high peak at the bow and stern. It’s very, very stable and not terribly heavy. I have since gotten a safari-style full length roof rack so I won’t be carrying the canoe on that cheesy thing in the photo anymore.

As you can see in the back seat, my daughter wasn’t super thrilled to on a trip to buy a canoe.

Every summer I canoe with a bunch of buddies down the Oldman River from Lethbridge, Alberta to Taber - about 90km over three days. Highlight of the year. Tons of fun even in this cheap old Coleman lake canoe.

@Godwin do yall self shuttle on all these river trips?

No. Either others with vehicles are paddling also and we set up a shuttle or if I am going solo I arrange with someone to help shuttle so that my truck is at the takeout.

Highly contemplating taking our canoe on the Rimrocker trail and then to SAS this summer. At SAS we could leave it at camp, but we’re traveling Rimrocker one way so it would have to be strapped to the top for that. It’s fiberglass so I feel like it would probably crack on the bumpy stuff …. But think about paddling the Green River in a huge canyon in Utah! Or at Silver Jack Reservoir east of Ridgeway…

Hit me up to shuttle your 60 if you do Labyrinth Canyon. I know I'd feel better having a fellow 60 driver doing that your average shuttle driver if you value your drivetrain and valve train.

60s are definitely “unique” to drive and I appreciate the offer. Like I said, I’m on the fence - The suspect the canoe would get damaged on rough trails. What do you think?

I don't know that trail. I'd think it would be safe from rocks and twisting, but branches could be an issue. Think pygmy forests, pinion and juniper lower down with Doug fir, Ponderosa pines and Aspen higher up. There is a certain cool factor to having a canoe on top of a serious Overlander and total worth it if you use it. The desert is likely to be hot and paddling is great therapy when doing that many miles/days driving. Consider a folding banana saw in your trail gear. They are cordless and about the safest saw to pack. You will also be required to have a fire pan even if you are not allowed to use it.
