I know I'm going to catch some serious crap from the 80 guys/gals but the windows on my 60 series are really hard to roll up/down when it gets wet outside. My first response is to tear into the doors and replace anything that could be doing this but I know that may or may not fix it. I need some help here. What can I try first before getting crazy and if it comes to that what should I do while I'm in there? My intension would be to only take the paneling off once. Also who would you recommend getting parts from? I like cool cruisers of texas but they don't have everything and SOR appears to have it all.

Thanks-

Have you tried cleaning the window runs? Some warm water and soap may help.

Yep, most likely the channels it goes up and down in. A thorough cleaning and then some silicon lube may help but if the channels are stiff you may have to replace them like I did on my 80.

If you're going to tear into the doors, pull the winding mechanism and completely clean and regrease it. I don't think new parts are worth it unless it's only the channels that need replacing.

Here goes a potential dumb question: I assume when you say clean the channels you mean down inside the door and not the channel outside of the paneling. That of course would be entirely too easy.

It would be the whole channel. Probably best to remove the window and maybe the rubber as well. Not sure on the 60 but I still have my FSM if you need to use it for instructions.

You can start with cleaning what's easily accessible. At least in the 80's a good third of the run is below the level of the door, and is not accessible without removing the door panel and probably window.

If it's old, it might be easiest to just replace it completely.

When I had this problem with my '51 (ford pickup) I used dry silicon spray on the track above door level and it really helped. After a time I still cleaned the run up but it worked for several months. When I did clean it up I cleaned what was above he door and then used dry silicon spray and ran the window up. Then I removed the door panel and did the same think to the lower half...

Good luck :)
